Re: West Nile Virus
The Dedham Board of Health has been notified that there have been 3 positive pool tests of mosquito?s for the West Nile Virus in town.
I strongly recommend that you encourage all participants of your organization to bring and apply insect repellent during outdoor activity.
When applying a repellent use one with DEET (N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide), permethrin, picaridin (KBR 3023), oil of lemon eucalyptus [p-methane 3, 8-diol (PMD)] or IR3535 according to the instructions on the product label. DEET products should not be used on infants under two months of age and should be used in concentrations of 30% or less on older children. Oil of lemon eucalyptus should not be used on children under three years of age.
Wearing long-sleeves, long pants and socks when outdoors will help keep mosquitoes away from your skin also.
Memorial Park will be sprayed on the morning of August 31st, however this is only one step in protecting the participants from mosquito bites.
Any questions please feel free to contact our office at 781-751-9220.
